The Brief
Build to Rent is a new housing model for New Zealand which is popular internationally, offering tenants greater flexibility and security of tenure along with a greater level of professionalism than a private landlord. Our client here is an early adopter in this model and looked to use this project as a template for a new kind of living in New Zealand.
Our Response
The site, adjacent to Panmure rail and bus stations, could not be better placed for this kind of residential development. The project comprises 46 one- and two-bedroom apartments arranged around a private central courtyard. Commercial tenancies are included on the street front for complimentary services, such as a café or restaurant.
The design also includes a shared lounge, workspace, and roof terrace for residents’ private use. The building has been designed to achieve a 6 Homestar rating.
