The Brief
This residential development project consists of 29 new homes with a community lounge and resource area. It will include a mixture of two- and three-bedroom apartments and four- and five-bedroom terraced houses and detached houses. The apartments will be constructed off-site as volumetric modular units, while the balance of houses will be traditionally built.
Our Response
Hindmarsh Street is a classic Wellington site with challenging access and steep topography making multiple building levels a requirement. Planning allows for a single vehicle access from which homes are located up and down the steep hillside. The design seeks to bring a contemporary aesthetic, while acknowledging the residential character of the surrounding neighborhood. The building has been designed to achieve a 6 Homestar rating.
