The Brief
This pioneering project represents the first multi-unit volumetric modular apartment building to be constructed off-site in a factory in Auckland. The engineered timber volumetric structure of the building is a New Zealand first and seeks to challenge the way we build housing in the future.
Our Response
Using cutting edge off-site manufacturing (OSM) fabrication modelling in a fully detailed BIM environment, a learning curve was required to deliver this project using a ‘Design for Manufacture and Assembly’ (DfMA) methodology.
The project comprises 30 two-bedroom apartments across a series of three storey walk-up buildings, designed around a private landscaped courtyard. The apartments are intended for a mixture of open market and Kiwi-build sale. The project has also been designed to achieve a 6 Homestar rating upon completion in 2022.
