The Brief
The project brief called for the redevelopment of this complex urban site from its existing mixed use to a maximum yield for social affordable housing designed for older adults. In keeping with the client's goal of ‘housing for social good’ the project proposals allow for 76 apartments across two 4-storey buildings with a basement carpark.
Our Response
The planning of the site called for the navigation of significant level changes from the street and the sensitive relocation of an existing heritage building, which will be repurposed as a community facility as part of the project.
A fully accessible landscape and building design was a key driver of the final outcome. The building has been designed to achieve a 6 Homestar rating.
